THERE’S NO GAP IN MY RESUME
July 2016

I was talking to a friend recently who asked how I handled “THE GAP” in my resume when my kids were finally grown, out the door, and I was ready to return to an out of home job. She said that she had recently been asked to put a sentence on her resume that would explain “the gap”

Wow.

All I could think of was how could anyone reduce 10 years of an adult life down to one line?

You can't.

AN INTERVIEW WITH JOE BOUCH
July 2016

Recently I was able to sit down with Joe Bouch, CEO of 78MADISON to discuss how he got started in the advertising business, and how he landed where he is now. Joe has had a long 38 plus year career in advertising that started on Madison Avenue and evolved to agency ownership.

FREE ORLANDO
July 2016

I was talking to a friend of mine in New York who asked me why I don’t open up an advertising agency in New York City, particularly with our new name 78MADISON. I chuckled and told him I was just fine with being a growing Orlando, Florida advertising agency; that there was plenty of fish to catch in Orlando, Central Florida, in and throughout the country from this very base.

IS WORK PART OF YOUR WORSHIP?
July 2016

I am a 60 year old business guy who has been going to church all of my life. And I can assure you it does not make me more spiritual than anyone else. In fact, I’d say there are days that I wonder how I could be so screwed up given my propensity to pray (for myself and others) and to intently listen to the gospel being preached on Sunday.

Perhaps it’s because Monday happens?

SOME TRUTHS ABOUT 78MADISON
June 2016

Someone asked me today what our agency was all about. What our real DNA was. What our history was. What our core truths were? Interesting questions, because as marketers, we all tend to have a bit of an angle, but in the end we are who we are.

So here are some historic truths…

We go by the name of 78Madison, a full-service marketing communications firm – an advertising agency - and have conducted business under that name for less than one year.

MAKING THINGS HAPPEN, PRODUCTIVELY
June 2016

At 78Madison we often talk about the fact that “getting things done” is not the same as “making things happen”. Frankly, any advertising agency can get things done; but only a few stand-out shops consistently make things happen. Said differently…

IS VIRTUAL REALITY...REAL?
June 2016

In 2011, an 18 year old Palmer Luckey found himself frustrated with the poor quality of the head-mounted virtual reality displays he had been collecting – so he went out to his parents’ garage and built one himself.

MAKE DESKTOP AND MOBILE CONTENT MORE EFFECTIVE
May 2016

Look up from your mobile phone for a moment. When was the last time you clicked on a sponsored link or banner ad? Be honest. I'm guessing not very often.

On your desktop, it's pretty much the same thing, right? You see lots of paid ads and social postings on sites you spend time on, but I'm guessing you avoid sponsored content as an intrusion. And I’m in the advertising business!

That's my point.

THE RUMORS OF MY DEMISE…
May 2016

Got your attention didn’t I. Well I’m not talking about me, although I am sure there are many who would consider me an old dinosaur ready for the pasture. No, I’m talking about those “old channels” that just get in the way of progress. Heck, if I had a quarter for every time I heard that advertising agencies were done, that they weren't needed any more, I’d be rich.

THE HIDDEN COST OF CUSTOMER ATTRITION
April 2016

It may surprise you just how much each lost customer is costing your business.

Are you in a business that invests heavily to acquire new customers, while losing customers at an even faster rate?
